The Law

Revisiting - IV

You need to make your desire specific. You should define what you want, quantify it and set a time limit. The desire should be clear, living and breathing. Make your desire or goal live and laden with feelings. How will you feel when your goal is realised? Attach those feelings to your goal as you start acting on your goal. See you desire in as much detail as you can. If your goal is to live in a house surrounded by natural beauty, see that setting in your mind. See the house. How many rooms do you want? What is the layout of the house? Where is the garage? Is there a private swimming pool? What is the architectural get up? In which colors the exterior of the house, the rooms are painted? Detail the furnishings. How does the setting of the house look like and sound like? Are there tall trees? Are there birds chirping in those trees? what fragrance are you getting from the garden? Is there a creek nearby? How does the sunlight look like filtering down through the leaves of those trees? Please go to your house everyday and live there and get the feel. Make a goal as specific as you can and make your goal live with feelings and emotions with the most powerful tool that has been uniquely gifted to mankind - the power of visualisation.

Let us now come to the subject of setting a desire. The way we set our desires is very crucial to our achieving the desires. There is one school of thought which recommends that dream the best and biggest outcome for your desire. The reason behind this thinking is that even if you don't realise your desire fully, would have accomplished fairly well. I do not contest or contradict this method. I have three points which I would like to make.

Firstly, the goal that we set for ourselves is not negotiable. What we set out to achieve, we must achieve. There is no space for harboring the thought for that even if we do not achieve our desire fully, we would have achieved a lot.

Secondly, the line between thinking big and wishful thinking is very thin. Wishful thinking becomes a barrier on your way to abundance. The problem with wishful thinking is that subconsciously you may not believe in the possibility of reaching such goals. Belief in your capability to reach a goal is a fundamental requirement to achieve the desired goal. When that belief is absent, there is lot of interplay between uncertainty, apprehension and surrender within our mind. Your efforts for abundance become half hearted and weak.

Thirdly, how does one define best and biggest outcome? Nothing is best or biggest. There is always something which is better and bigger.

I recommend two approaches to quantifying a desire. Either one o them can be chosen depending on your comfort. I will elaborate on the two approaches in the next post.

What I would like to do now is to caution you on a very important aspect. I would like to prepare you for the slide backs and slips, that inevitably occur when you act, including travelling on the path to abundance.

How do you manage a slide back, slip or failure?

Managing a failure is a process that is completely controlled by you. Let us have a look at the process

>> Don't curse yourself or blame someone else or an external circumstance for  your failure.

>> Take responsibility for the failure - accept it. When you do this you retain    control on your life, which is a mindset most essential for journey to  abundance.

>> Analyze the failure. Consult your trusted mentors. Try to find more        information. Learn from it. Did you try hard enough? Was there a change in  conditions which you did not anticipate? Did you try long enough?....?.....?....?

>> Prepare for the next try with better understanding from the lessons learnt.

>> Do not compromise on your goal. Work harder with enthusiasm and  perseverance.

>> Do it again. There are more ways.

"Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently." - Henry Ford

“I have not failed 10,000 times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those 10,000 ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work.” -  Thomas Alva Edison

Thomas Edison is a role model for persons travelling on the path of abundance or for that matter embarking on something different. He kept trying differently with each failure, did not heed the discouraging advice from others and did not give up.

The fruits of his labor were 1093 patents.
