Psycho-Cybernetics
Maxwell Maltz, MD, FICS
A quote from the book:
I recommend this book as a must read for everyone.
The book deals with the concept of self image. Unless the self image is conducive to the desire, one will not get what he desires. If the self image goes on sending a message that the desire is beyond the entitlement of the self, things do not happen. Hence nurturing a correct self image is of utmost importance.
This correction can be done by vivid envisioning of what you want your self image to be. The subconscious mind does not know the difference between imagination and real life. Anything that is envisioned vividly in the mind, the mind interprets it as reality
When one gets back into the past to a bad situation, the mental and physical reactions are such that the past even is acting out in the present. In the same way successes and happy moments can be envisioned with associated feelings to create new reference points for the self.
For example you can remember a past experience when someone made you feel really bad. Funny enough, your mind will interpret that experience as if it is happening right now, and you will literally feel bad in the present moment as if the experience is happening again right now, even though it may already had happened long time ago. The attachment of feelings and emotions to such visualizations is a primary requirement. That is one has to feel that the successes are happening in the present moment.
The most common mistake one makes is to visualize the "how" of getting one;s desire. That is making out an action plan for getting the success. The moment one does this the mind interprets the success as a future event and not as a current reality. In other words the mind gets the message that one is not yet capable of getting what he desires. The target of creating a different self image gets defeated.
I invite that readers to go through my posts on the Law.
A fascinating and highly educating read.
