Two books

I suggest reading two books. They give a different perspective to life and living. Priorities change. I am reminded of an incident which happened in 90s.

I was returning from Kanya Kumari, the southernmost tip in Indian mainland, with my wife and two kid sons. We were travelling by train. We had no reservation and therefore had to squeeze in somehow in an unreserved compartment. Between two seats a farmer family was sitting on the floor of the compartment. They appeared to be poor. The family comprised of a strapping youth, who was the son, and his old parents.

As night set in, hunger set in. The train halted in a station. I dared not move out of my seat to buy something to eat, for fear of losing my sets. The farmer family opened a tin box which had some food. It was not much. The young fellow took out a few pieces of large leaves from his supplies. He put a good amount of food on one leaf and offered it to us. I was embarrassed in laying claim to their meagre food stock. The farmer family overrode all my objection. They started eating their portion after we ate our portion. The entire farmer family looked happy and contented. As  others fell sleep, I and the old farmer sat awake. I uttered my thankfulness to him for feeding me and my family. Then he said something in colloquial Hindi, the meaning of which I could not understand then. He said " Arre babu, kahe oos chote se baat par matha phod rahe ho. Jo tumhare andar hai, mere andar bhi wohi to hai. Tab ek tukda kaise pet bhar khaye aur ek tukda bhuka rahe. (Oh Sir, why are you breaking your head over such a small matter. That which is inside you, is inside me too. How can one part of the Whole have a full belly when another part of the Same remains hungry)."

Today I understand what he was saying -The Whole truth in simple words. I do not know why I recalled the incident after such a long time. Since I recalled, I had to get it off my chest.

The first book is titled "Heaven is for real." The story of a young kid of his near death experience.  The narrator is the father of the kid. Do not get diverted by the Christianity oriented experience of the child. Had this been experienced by a person of other religion his experience would have oriented towards his religion. I am of the opinion that the physical level beliefs do not disintegrate immediately after the demise of the physical body.

The second book is titled "Life after life" and is authored by Dr. Raymod Moody Jr. MD.

It is a research like book on near death experiences.  Dr Moody is a Psychiatrist by profession.

Enjoy reading.

Napster.
