The Law

Revisiting - VIII

Why do we hold ourselves in check? Why is it that we prefer to stay in our zone of mediocrity than forging ahead to bigger things? Why is it that after having the necessary knowledge we either hesitate or procrastinate to take action? The answer is one. It is due to our tendency to remain within our comfort zone. We perceive ourselves as either secure and safe or as aware of the risks within our comfort zones. We are comfortable in staying there in spite living in mediocrity, in scarcity, in discomfort and living in a limited way.
Moving towards abundance is essentially stepping beyond the boundaries of comfort zone and pushing the boundaries to much greater distances. It involves moving into uncertainties and taking risks. Any growth is associated with change and any change comes with risks. The unknown devil could be better than the known devil, if at all the unknown is a devil. How will you know unless you try the unknown?

One lesson which we have learnt from childhood is the art of blaming others and circumstances external to us. This is the most common behavior by humanity on display. In that process, we acknowledge, without probably realising that we have surrendered the reigns of our life to others and external circumstances.

I want you to block the escape routes. Believe that you have no other option other than growing and becoming bigger and abundant. Just don't stay put within your comfort zone. Staying put guarantees stagnation and atrophy. Action makes you learn and leads you to the path that makes you abundant.

When you act, you will fail quite often. If you don't act, you will be a permanent failure - guaranteed. How do you see a failure? Are you really afraid of failing or becoming a laughing stock in others' eyes? Is it more important for you to look good in your limited comfort zone than acting to push your boundaries, failing sometimes and learning from them? Ponder on these questions honestly. Failures re stepping stones to success. Do not try to fool yourself by pretending action. Say, you want to develop a muscular body. You start your actions. You buy a pair of shoes, shorts, energy drinks, books on muscle development etc and are contented that you are acting. You procrastinate on going to the Gym and putting in the required workouts. Have you acted? No, you have not. You have pretended to act. You are fooling yourself. Act in the real sense.

Human being is empowered with a very powerful tool to train the brain on focusing on the desired goal - the power of Visualisation. This power resides in every human being. Unfortunately, this is also the most abused power. Most of us use this power to project the negative consequences into the future. Let me give an example. The interest rates on the small saving instruments have started coming down. This is the reality. The retired persons, including me, see this as a threat. We project the dire consequences of this occurrence into the future and visualise that we will not have enough money for minimum sustenance and will not be able to meet heath costs. The visualisation proceeds to greater hardships and dooms day. This does not help in mitigating the situation and taking control of a development whose movements are beyond our control. You will need to focus on better investment mix, finding out ways to generate more revenues. In today's world, knowledge is a high value commodity. You could exploit this opportunity. You will not retire. You will be retired from employment as per rule of the land, but your real retirement is when you cease to act.

Please see my posts on "Calm Mind" where I have discussed the process of visualisation in some detail. The essence of the visualisation process is to make your desire go live with as much details as possible and with as much feeling as possible. What you do during the process of visualisation is that you experience the feelings that you would experience on realisation of your desire.
