The Root or Muladhar Chakra
The First Chakra is called the Root Chakra or Muladhar Chakra in Sanskrit. It is located between the anus and the genitals. It is connected with the coccyx and opens downward.
It is fiery red in colour. It's associated element is earth. It is associated with Supra renal glands, which produce adrenaline and noadernaline which regulate the blood distribution as per our needs.

A person with a healthy Root chakra will perceive the earth a secure place which provides everything one needs - food, shelter, security and love. He will trust the world and shall keep himself open for receiving with gratitude all that the world offers.
When the Root chakra becomes unbalanced, our sense of security revolves around material possessions and sensual indulgences. We then want to own. We become self centred towards our own needs without any regard for needs of others. Violent enforcement of our will becomes a tendency. When challenged, we will tend to become aggressive and intimidating.
When the Root chakra becomes blocked, physical and emotional weakness sets in. We lose staying ability. We become worrisome and tentative.
There are some simple ways to keep the Root chakra healthy.
Just look at the rising or setting sun.
Sit on bare ground in lotus or semi lotus posture.
Some gemstones which help are Agate, Haematite, Blood Jasper, Garnet, Red Coral and Ruby.
Fragrance of two Essential oils viz. Cedar wood and Clove, helps in stabilising this chakra.
Meditate for keeping the Muladhar chakra balanced. Sit in the usual meditation posture. Visaulise a bright red ball of energy pulsating in your Muladhar chakra. Visualise it growing bigger and brighter and shining like a red sun in your Muladhar. Hold. 10 minutes. Let go.
I do this meditation once a week.
You can also put on your earphones and listen to this music when meditating.
