Belief - I
I am an Engineer by qualification and profession. I was comfortable with things which are measurable, visible, audible and touchable. Anything that I could sense with my five senses, was the sole "truth"; everything else was bogus and sorcery. It is another matter that I realised much later that we have more senses than the five. This was my USP, till about two and a half decades back. One fine day, my life became turbulent, confused and uncomfortable. I started "sensing" things I could not really understand. I was ashamed and, probably afraid also, to discuss my experiences with anyone else.
I started sensing "substances", which were subtle, had no shape or size; or more correctly speaking of transient size and shape. I started seeing the "energy bodies". These visuals, though infrequent in the beginning, became quite regular as time passed and I had to accept that these were not hallucinations. My engineering training compelled that I research deeply into this phenomena. One thing led to another. I have been able to only scratch on the surface of the understanding our depth of existence. That understanding has been so amazing and deeply revealing that my paradigms underwent a big change. And that understanding also taught me the huge influence of our beliefs on our biology, our environment, our world. I have since used this knowledge to good advantage. Though my attempts at exploiting the power of belief has been crude, I could get good benefits. I had suffered from three major ailments in the past 25 years. I came out of all of them either with no medication or little medication.
I had a slip disc problem in the L4/L5 area in the spine. The associated pain was excruciating. I was not able to stand, sit or lie down. I was able to take a few steps with my upper body bent forward. The doctors, and i had taken advice from a multitude of them, equivocally advised me to go for a surgery. In those days, the surgery in this area was considered risky due to the nerve bundles near the spinal cord. I decided not to go for surgery. I willed that I would get well and live like a fit and normal person. I started behaving, as much as I could, that I was normal. I started to read books, brought the smile back on my face, started responding positively to anyone inquiring on my condition. In short I shifted my focus from my pain. I believed that I would get well no matter what. And in about six months I was back to my normal posture, working normally.
The second instance was when I started facing serious issues with keeping my body balance with sudden severe attacks of dizziness. I had gradually developed a feeling that I was walking on a tight rope. I sustained quite a few falls while moving which caused severe injuries to my body. I was diagnosed with "meinier's syndrome" - a problem of inner ear. There are three tubes in the inner ear which are filled with fluids. these tubes also have fine hairs. When we move our body, the fluid within the inner tubes move, the hairs sense the movement of the fluids and send signals to the brain to which then sends signals to the relevant nerves and muscles to take compensatory action for maintaining the balance of the body. I was informed that the fluid in the tubes in the inner right year was drying up causing the problem. I was also advised that this is not curable. My dizziness would stop once the fluid dried up completely but that would also be accompanied with loss of hearing in the right year. As predicted by the ENT specialist, I lost complete hearing in the right year and also was cured of problem in body balance. That left me with only my left ear. I was not satisfied with the state of affairs, specially when I was talking on my mobile with my left ear ans was unaware of any other warning sounds. I wanted my right ear to start hearing. I believed that my right ear hearing would be normal. Within a couple of years I started hearing with my right ear, though not fully.
The third ailment occurred a year after I had taken up my new assignment in 2005. My right knee started giving problems and after some time refused to hold the weight of my body. Gradually the problem became severe and taking a few step had become very painful. The Orthopaedic doctor, after doing a thorough investigation, advised me to have my right knee replaced with an artificial one. He also informed me that such an artificial knee would last for about 5 to 6 years, after which I might need to go for another surgery. I decided to will my knee back to normal. I believed that my knee will be free of all disfigurements and damages and I shall be able to walk normally. It took about six months for my knee to normalise. It does give me a pinch of pain in cold weather but it goes off as I decide to engage my mind on something else.
I have experienced and believed that your belief can do wonders. The challenge is to explain it to people who believe in the rationalilty of things that they sense with their five senses, as I did earlier. I started doing lot of reading and to my surprise came across a large number of publications, in the last five decades if not more, by a class of scientist who have dared to go against the "rationality" of conventional science. It is my endeavor to bring to you the works and findings of these scientists. The difficulty in interpreting the works of these scientists, like any other science research papers, is the highly technical language used which a layman finds difficult to understand. In this series of posts, I shall be attempting to become that bridge for closing the gap between incomprehension and comprehension. So I will start with a series of posts for a layman to understand our cellular biology. I have tried to keep the concepts as simple as possible. I have included lots of notes to explain things. You will take heart from the fact that I too am a layman so far as cellular biology is conerned.
With this series of posts, my aim is to prove that the following are true:

You are what you think you are
You get what you really want to get
Your belief is your biology
It is not that I am unveiling some secrets; for these have been preached by sages and saints, past and present. The question is why do we not heed to such good advice? I feel that the underlying factor for us not heeding to such truths is our innate tendency to shirk responsibility. The moment we start heeding to any or all of the above truths, we accept that we are fully responsible for our world. We can no more look at something else or someone else to hold accountable for what happens to us. That is a lot of work. That is a huge change in paradigm. THAT IS THE TRUTH. STOP BLAMING AND POINT ALL FINGERS AT YOURSELF. Wow!!!!!!!!
