Revisiting - XIV
I mentioned in the last post that there are four methods to create cognitive dissonance in your mind.
The first method is to learn the correct way of communicating with others. Your current reality may be a cause of frustration to you. Your current status my depress your energy and cause a slouching walk. I want you to behave just the opposite. Walk tall and straight with spring in your step. Send out a body language of contented calmness and joyfulness. Talk of beauty, hope and opportunity inspite of what you feel inside. Do not gossip and indulge in slander mongering. Remember that you get not only what you think but also what you talk.
Secondly, monitor your self talk. What do you tell yourself most of the time? Do you say things like " nothing works for me", "I am dumb", " Why he gets everything, and I don't" etc.? I want you to use positive affirmations in your self talk. You will good resources in the internet for constructing affirmations. In short an affirmation should start with" I am" followed by your statement. some examples are:
"I am happy and healthy"
" I am communicating to the audience well and holding their attention"
" I am completing all my engagements in time"
" I am writing a blog which is reviewd by at least 500 people every day and generating 500 USD every day"
The third method is visualisation. I strongly recommend that you should schedule 15 to 30 minutes every day for visualisation. Ensure that you are not disturbed during this time. Just disconnect from all external interference during this time. refer to my posts on visualisation under the labels "Calm Mind". Visualise your desire in as much detail as possible. Add color, feeling, fragrance. This is the most potent method for setting in cognitive dissonance.
The fourth method is creating predominant thoughts. Think of your desire most of the time. To help you in reminding, put sticker on your mirrors, in your office, in suitable places in your home, specially in spaces which you frequently use. You can create your vision board and st it up in your home.
Coming back to the mindset, let us emphasize on the management of our past We spend a lot of our present in ruing the our actions in the past or actions which we should have taken and did not take, our past slights, angers, frustrations, and the guilt arising out of all these. This is not only a wastage of the present but also prevents us from amplifying ourselves and restricts our growth. Forgiving, self and others, is imperative to release our guilt, anger, shame and slights of the past.
Check your thoughts and affirmations. Are you focusing on what you do not want or on what you want? The dearest son of the family is going far for some work. There are two ways he is blessed. The grandmother says " I pray to God that you are not harmed in any way." The mother says "I pray to God that you reach hale and hearty and come back with success". Both love the son of the family equally well. Both want the son to be happy and successful. Only the grandmother if focusing on what she does want to happen and the mother is focusing on what she wants to happen. Remember that the law is says you get what you think and where you send your energy. If you send thought energy to what you do no want, you will get what you do not want. If you send your thoughts to what you want, you will get what you want. I f you say "I do not want to be sick", you will get sickness. If you think "I want good health", you will get good health. I want you to focus on what yo want and not on what you do not want. I want you to focus on what you want to create and not what you want to avoid.
Check your thoughts. What is your first thought when something goes wrong? What is your first thought when things do not work out the way you would want them to? The usual thought process falls into either of the two types mentioned below or a combination of the two types:
1/ putting the blame elsewhere
2/ feeling self pity, unlucky, destined to suffer etc.
Now when you do this, and I have repeatedly emphasized on this point, you are handling over the reins of your life to others and external factors. This is escapism. You are literally telling yourself that you are not responsible for what happens to you and your destiny is determined by others. Your jurney to abundance requires one fundamental realisation - you are responsible and you determine your destiny.
