Back to the roots - XI

The Sacral or Swadhisthana Chakra

The Sacral chakra, known as Swadhisthana chakra in Sanskrit, is located above the genitals. It is connected with the sacrum and opens towards the front. It has a counterpart opening towards the back.

It is orange in colour.

Its associated glands are Gonads - ovaries, prostate gland and testicles.

It is the centre of basic emotions, sexual energy and creativity. Its area of influence includes the male reproductive organ, the female procreation organs and the womb where a child is nourished. Our interpersonal relationship with the opposite sex is influenced decisively by this chakra.

Harmonious Sacral chakra manifests into an open attitude. Your interaction with others, specially of opposite sex, becomes pleasant, creative and there is no hidden agenda. You will experience a tremendous creative energy flowing in your mind and body.

Malfunctioning of Sacral chakra results into coarse sensuality. Malfunctioning in this chakra generally starts during puberty.  This is the time when sexual energy awakens and very few parents and teachers are able provide proper guidance to the young ones causing a sense of uncertainty.

Insufficient functioning of this Chakra can lead to two opposite tendencies - frigidity or aggressive satisfaction of sexual needs. Insufficient functioning of Sacral chakra can be usually traced back to infancy and  childhood. It happens due to lack of sensual stimulation of the baby such as cuddling, caressing, tenderness etc.

Looking at the moon and a clear water body cleanses this chakra

Carnelian and Moonstone are the two gemstones which clean this chakra.

Fragrance of essential oils from Ylang - Ylang, Sandalwood cleanses this chakra.

To keep the chakra balanced, sit in the meditation posture. Breathe deeply a few times. Relax. Visualise an orange ball of light, like the color of sun when it rises or sets, resting in your Sacral Chakra. see it growing bigger and brighter and filling p your lower abdomen. Hold. 10 minutes. Longer if you feel like continuing.

I do this meditation once a week.

You can put on this music piece with earphone on while doing this meditation.
