The 7 Master Chakras - I
The 7 Master Chakras - I
We have learnt that, broadly, the chakras are receptors of energy for all our bodies, they are distributors of the energy to our bodies and they are transmitters of the excess energy from our bodies. The chakras receive energy from all things - animate or inanimate. The chakras are gateways to our physical and energy bodies. We need to keep the gateways uncluttered for assuring free flow of energy. We have also learnt that all our bodies are connected the chakras. We have learnt that there are huge number of chakras in our bodies. 40 of them are important. 7 of them are the main or Master chakras.
The figure on the right illustrates the location of the 7 chakras.
Out of the 7 Master chakras, one is at the top of the crown and is aptly called Crown chakra, one is at the base of the spine and is called Root or Base chakra, and the rest five on the main body - Third Eye Chakra, Throat chakra, Heart chakra, Solar Plexus chakra and Sacral Chakra.

Each of the five Master chakras is paired with the counterpart on the back of the body.
When we speak of opening up ourselves, we mean opening up all our chakras for energy to flow in and flow out. Higher the energy we allow to flow, healthier we are. We become ill when the energy flow is retarded or blocked. It also causes psychological distortions like depressed vitality, negative perception etc.
The Chakras have three major functions:
1/ Supplies energy to all energy bodies and the physical body
2/ Develops different aspects of consciousness. Each chakra relates to specific psychological function.
3/ To transmit energy between energy bodies.
Each chakra has a predominant color. The Root chakra is red, Sacral Chakra is orange, Solar plexus is yellow, Heart chakra is green with pink hue, Throat chakra is blue, Third chakra is indigo and Crown chakra is violet or incandescent white. The color observed in each chakra is related to the frequency of energy metabolised in that chakra.
Enough for the day. It is a vast subject. I will limit the post contents to those aspects, the understanding of which is critical for harmonising mind, body and spirit.
Shabba khair. God bless
